About Hobby Horse Adventures...
Hobby Horse Adventures started with a child, a hobby horse and a big dream.
It all began when Zoe’s daughter discovered hobby horsing and started asking to visit competitions and events she’d seen online, particularly those taking place in Finland. She saved up for her own handmade hobby horse, and before long, the garden was transformed into a rather creative collection of homemade jumps!
Friends started bringing their own hobby horses round to play, and soon the adventures moved beyond the garden – heading out on hacks to local parks, looking for places to ride and searching for hobby horse competitions in the UK.
At the time, there were very few opportunities for children to take part in organised hobby horse events here in the UK. The more we looked, the more obvious it became that something was missing.
Children were already creating their own hobby horse worlds at home. They were jumping homemade courses, practising in gardens, making up competitions with their friends and dreaming about the bigger events they had seen online.
So we decided to create somewhere for them to go.
🌟 And Then Hobby Horse Adventures Was Born
The very first Hobby Horse Adventures event was never intended to become what it is today.
What started as an idea to give local children somewhere to enjoy their hobby quickly turned into something much, much bigger.
Children and families travelled from all over the country to attend our very first event. People came from far and wide, bringing their hobby horses and excitement with them – and the response was incredible.
We heard the same thing again and again:
“Finally, someone is doing this in the UK.”
It became clear very quickly that there was a huge community of children who had been waiting for exactly this.
And we knew we had found something special.
🐴 From One Event to a Family Business
Since those early days, Hobby Horse Adventures has grown into a family business where everyone has a part to play.
What began with a daughter’s love of hobby horses has grown into something shared by the whole family.
Zoe’s daughter remains a huge part of the story and the reason Hobby Horse Adventures began in the first place. Now, her son has also become involved and is stepping up as one of the familiar young faces of Hobby Horse Adventures – almost becoming our very own little mascot!
Behind the scenes, the wider family and team all contribute in different ways, from helping with events and course design to judging, administration, marketing, preparing stock and making sure everything is ready for the next Hobby Horse Adventure.
It really has become a family affair.
💚 A Place for Everyone
As Hobby Horse Adventures has grown, so has our community.
We welcome complete beginners taking part for the very first time, experienced hobby horse riders, competitive riders and those who simply want to come along, have fun and make friends.
Hobby horsing can be competitive, but we believe competition should be encouraging and positive. There is room for everyone – whether you’re aiming for a clear round, trying your first jump or simply galloping around with a huge smile on your face.
We are also passionate about making our events welcoming and accessible for neurodiverse children and children with disabilities. Where possible, we’re happy to work with families to make reasonable adjustments so that more children can enjoy taking part.
🌍 Growing the Hobby Horse Community
Today, Hobby Horse Adventures runs events, competitions, parties, camps and activities across the UK.
We’ve taken hobby horsing into the world of equestrian events and major shows, including Your Horse Live, The National Equine Show, Bramham International Horse Trials and other large country, family and equestrian events.
We also create and supply hobby horses, jumps, accessories and competition equipment, helping children continue their adventures at home.
But we’re not just about selling products or running events.
We’re passionate about growing the hobby horse community and showing just how much potential there is within this incredible activity.

Hobby Horse Adventures has had the opportunity to bring hobby horsing to audiences far beyond our events.
We’ve appeared on BBC The One Show, BBC Newsround and BBC iPlayer’s What’s Your Thing?, as well as Sky News and BBC Radio.
We’ve been invited to appear on Britain’s Got Talent, featured in Katie Piper’s Weekend Escapes, and have had the opportunity to work alongside well-known television productions and personalities.
Our story and hobby horsing have also appeared in publications including Horse & Hound, The Guardian, The Times, Yorkshire Post, Yorkshire Evening Post, Northern Horse and The People’s Friend.
From television studios to huge equestrian shows, we’re proud to be helping introduce hobby horsing to more and more people.
✨ What’s Next?
Hobby Horse Adventures has come a very long way from homemade jumps in a garden.
But the reason we started hasn’t changed.
We still want children to have somewhere to go, somewhere to belong and somewhere they can enjoy being themselves.
We’re continually looking for new venues, events, organisations and opportunities to bring hobby horsing to even more children across the UK.
And because this is a family business, the adventure continues to grow with us – with the next generation already getting involved.
